one weird odyssey

This is going to be my most negative review yet so here it goes. "2001 a space odyssey" (1968) is a movie that I think many don't know about because it is misunderstood and rightfully so because it is just too weird. I really wanted to like it because it's a sci-fi movie ( I love sci-fi), it has revoltionary special effects, it has a iconic director behind it by the name of the late Stanly Kubrick ( the same director behind the "Shining"(1980) with Jack Nicholson "here's johnny"). even with all the good behind it, it all depends on the story and this movie will certailny have you scratching your head for the rest of your life and I really do mean that. it's like when Stanly Kubrick directed this it was like he was on crack, this movie literally does not make any sense. the movie has 3 parts in it the best part is the second one it is the only part that makes sense, but the other 2 will have you saying WHAT!!!!!!. Don't even get me started on all the wacky elements I don't even know where to begin, well For some reason you see this giant black wall through out the movie, you get this long drawn out intermission were you have to watch a black screen for get this 5 minutes with this annoying ring. then you see the astronaut take some trippy trip to god knows where with funky a rainbow swirling then if that was'nt enough it's get better you see the astronaut arive at this green apartment and see that he has aged then for some reason you see a baby in the middle of space hovering over earth. This film is artistically a great film meaning from the orchestra to the shots of when the ape throws the bone then we see the cut to a ship symbolizing the evolution of man in that regard this film is a masterpiece. That's one of the problems with this movie it has alot of symbolism that you have to try and figure out. this film is reconized by many from the academy awards to AFI( American Film Institute) as one of the greatest of all time and i'm just not sure if I agree there is just to many questions that are left unanswered to bad the iconic director died in 1999 maybe he could of explain what his vision was behind the craziness in a DVD commentary or something. wow i'm exhausted talking about this one I give it a 2 out 5.
