the caped crusader

My next review I feel is one of the best comic book movies of the last couple of years most of you already know what i'm talking about that's "The Dark Knight"(2008). this film is so good because out all of the comic book movies that have come out through the years (and I've seen alot) this is the only one that I felt was the most realistic and gritty. Director Christopher Nolan deserved a award or something for this oh yeah I forgot the academy awards does'nt like to give awards to movies we all actually like anyway moving on. This movie felt more like a crime drama then a superhero flick.

I love the performances of this movie but, especially from the late Heath Ledger who played the joker it was creepy but so statisfiying for all of us nerds who knows these characters inside and out from the comic books this is how it is done. heathe ledger's joker was a cold hearted murderer and a total badass and really gave the dark knight a hard time in this one, but I also  think Jack Nicholson's take of the joker worked for it's time in the 1989 "Batman" movie. In short this film is not to be missed if you have to see a superhero flick see this one it is certainly in my top 3 best superhero flicks of all time. 4 out of 5.

one weird odyssey

This is going to be my most negative review yet so here it goes. "2001 a space odyssey" (1968) is a movie that I think many don't know about because it is misunderstood and rightfully so because it is just too weird. I really wanted to like it because it's a sci-fi movie ( I love sci-fi), it has revoltionary special effects, it has a iconic director behind it by the name of the late Stanly Kubrick ( the same director behind the "Shining"(1980) with Jack Nicholson "here's johnny"). even with all the good behind it, it all depends on the story and this movie will certailny have you scratching your head for the rest of your life and I really do mean that. it's like when Stanly Kubrick directed this it was like he was on crack, this movie literally does not make any sense. the movie has 3 parts in it the best part is the second one it is the only part that makes sense, but the other 2 will have you saying WHAT!!!!!!. Don't even get me started on all the wacky elements I don't even know where to begin, well For some reason you see this giant black wall through out the movie, you get this long drawn out intermission were you have to watch a black screen for get this 5 minutes with this annoying ring. then you see the astronaut take some trippy trip to god knows where with funky a rainbow swirling then if that was'nt enough it's get better you see the astronaut arive at this green apartment and see that he has aged then for some reason you see a baby in the middle of space hovering over earth. This film is artistically a great film meaning from the orchestra to the shots of when the ape throws the bone then we see the cut to a ship symbolizing the evolution of man in that regard this film is a masterpiece. That's one of the problems with this movie it has alot of symbolism that you have to try and figure out. this film is reconized by many from the academy awards to AFI( American Film Institute) as one of the greatest of all time and i'm just not sure if I agree there is just to many questions that are left unanswered to bad the iconic director died in 1999 maybe he could of explain what his vision was behind the craziness in a DVD commentary or something. wow i'm exhausted talking about this one I give it a 2 out 5.

virtual reality

"Tron Legacy" is one of those movies you walk out the movie theater with a smile on your face. these movie left me with so much to talk about with my brother who I saw it with. even though I did not see the original (which I'm planning to see really soon when it comes out on blu-ray) I don't think it is a must because I was able to follow this movie with no problems. this movie kind of has a wizard of Oz feel in that the movie starts in the real world than we travel to another world in the later part of the film. I saw this movie in 3D, it was my first 3D experience and it was kind underwhelming but I don't want to give up on 3D yet. I knew this movie was going to be great from the first scene when you hear jeff briges character setting up the movie for his vision of this virtual world, and then you hear that fantastic music that plays through out the movie, I love a great score in a film and this movie has it. I thought this movie was nearly perfect I only have small complaints, there are many things that are not explained like for example you see the characters in this movie eating food in this virtual world like isn't everything in this world supposed to be artificial how is that possible but other than that go see this one and have a blast. I give this one 4 out 5.

what a dream

"Inception" wow, great , fun ,complicated , smart , epic , original are just the few words I can come up with for this movie. The movie that was nominated for best picture for this years Oscars (which was a snooze fest anyway that's a whole other story) and rightfully so this film is the most original movie I have ever seen in years. obviously I had a good time but one thing I did not expect while watching this movie is that it is very complicated. I felt like each scene I had to really pay attention if I didn't I would possible be lost for the entire film. I really did not expect this movie to be so damn sophisticated , I thought it was just going to be your average action movie with cool special effects but it really delves in to what I felt was stuff that should be in psychology class and how dreams work in the universe of this film which is nothing wrong with that. I don't want to sound like I hate this movie I don't you should really go see this one  it will really gives you stuff to think about especially the ending. I rate this one a 4 out 5.

A man in a suit with a gun in his right hand is flanked by five other individuals in the middle of a street which, behind them, is folded upwards. Leonardo DiCaprio's name and those of other cast members are shown above the words "YOUR MIND IS THE SCENE OF THE CRIME". The title of the film "INCEPTION", film credits, and theatrical and IMAX release dates are shown at the bottom.

big hype , big movie

well here it is the movie that everyone has been talking about and I finally saw it, what movie am I talking about that it none other than "avatar". I saw avatar a year later for home so I did not get to see it in 3D like everyone else, which sucks because obviously that was the main draw of the movie, but the movie still is not bad. the movie is like a fun ride all the way through with plenty beautiful special effects, and creatures to look at and oh yeah  there are giant scary blue monkey people that are kind of weird and hard to get used to at first than 20 seconds later I got used to them. the movie obviously has allot of imagination and technological breakthroughs, but aside from all of that is a predictable story that many of us have seen whether in TV or movies. You know the story outsider falls for girl, locals at first hate outsider than love him, there is a rivalry between the old boyfriend and new guy blah, blah, blah. I like the movie but I don't know what the huge hype for the movie was coming from. I still recommend anyone out there who have not seen the movie to go do so but don't have huge expectations just go have a good time. I'm giving this one a 3 out of 5.

what's old is new again

today I will be reviewing another classic film that I feel changed motion pictures forever and that movie is "Psycho". I think the importance of this blog is to pay respect to movies that will forever give enjoyment in my life, to the world, and hopefully with this blog you guys out there can enjoy as well. If you have never seen "Psycho" before great because I'm about to tell you why you should see this timeless classic. when "Psycho" was released in 1960 it came with alot of controversy which in today's standards it is pretty tame but what makes this a great tale is a combination of things. first there's the story without giving too much away for does who have not seen the movie I'll say at first the film starts out one way and totally ends up in a whole other direction. secondly the music is amazing it's the first thing you hear when you watch this movie and you will hear it through out the film I feel the music is a remainder to the audience to expect the unexpected. even though the film is in black and white don't let that discourage you from a movie not to miss. lastly the film just got a re-release on blu-ray I totally recommend everyone young, old, men, and women to at least rent this movie, directed by the iconic film maker Alfred Hitchcock,he really out done himself in this one. if you haven't guess this film gets a 5 out of 5.

The poster features a large image of a young woman in white underwear. The names of the main actors are featured down the right side of the poster. Smaller images of Anthony Perkins and John Gavin are above the words, written in large print, "Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho".

the first avenger

finally a trailor for the new movie captain america: the first avenger has come during the super bowl( yea I know i'm like two weeks late)and it looks okay. the reason why I said it's okay so far mostly because the suit. it kind looks a little cheesy to me and they was nothing in the trailor that got me really excited but,at least it seems it will be very fate to the source material. we also got our very brief first look at capt's arch nemesis the red skull, and so far he kinda looks cheesy he looks like jim carey's the mask. I still have high hopes for this, either way since i'm a huge comic book fan and a movie fan I will be seeing this one anyway when it releases on july 22, 20ll because i'm a huge nerd. rate this trailor a 3.
